As believers in Jesus Christ we believe we are part of a global family from every nation, tribe and tongue that God is saving from sin and preparing for paradise. Our small part in God’s global work began on 23 January 2005 when a keen group from St Matthews Church Table View was sent out to start a new church in the suburbs to the North.
We are part of a denomination known as REACH South Africa (formerly CESA) and believe we are called to do our part in reaching Cape Town with the good news of Jesus Christ. For more information about our beliefs and our denominational history visit reachsa.org.za
A core part of our mission is gathering on Sundays to be a public witness to Christ. At our Sunday meetings we give time to congregational worship and prayer but most of all to hearing God’s word clearly preached and applied. After a time of all age worship the children leave for an age appropriate teaching programme (see Kids 4 Christ).
Life Explored / Christianity Explored
We put on regular courses for spiritual enquirers and those looking to refresh themselves on the basics. These courses revolve around a shared meal, video segments and discussion as well as Bible study. No previous knowledge is assumed and all honest questions are welcomed. No one will be pressured to pray or read aloud. Visit our facebook page for details about when the next course starts.
We have several mid-week groups called Growth Groups. Their aim is to go deeper into the Bible and deeper into sharing life together than is possible on a Sunday morning. We have groups catering to all ages and stages of life. We have morning groups and evening groups, mixed and single sex groups. Please contact us for more information.
We have both Junior School (only Gr 4-7) and High School youth groups. They both meet in local homes and include Bible teaching along with the usual fun and games.
Our annual highlights include a church camp, men’s retreat, women’s conferences and a Children’s Holiday Bible Club in July. Visit our facebook page for the most up to date information.
George Whitefield College
George Whitefield College (GWC) is a Christian theological college which is reformed and evangelical situated in Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa, and is named after the 18th-century English evangelist George Whitefield. It was founded in 1989 on the initiative of Bishop Joe Bell, then presiding bishop of the Church of England in South Africa.
GWC's mission is to shape minds via a classical theological education, create hearts devoted to Christian service, and train voices to effectively communicate the word of Christ.
We value our links with George Whitefield College (GWC), our church’s training college in Muizenberg. We consider it a privilege to be part of the training of some of these Bible College students who are assigned to us for their “student placement” while studying.
Preach the Word
Preach the Word (PTW) is a Bible training course situated in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. It has arisen out of a friendship between Loots Lambrechts (AIM missionary) and Determine Dusabumuremyi (Rwandan minister of the Word). Our conviction is that God will use His Word as written in the Bible for His purposes in Rwanda. PTW is a practical course helping those involved in Christian ministry to correctly and faithfully handle God’s Word. Our ultimate hope is that God would use PTW students to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to their own people and even go beyond their borders to other nations, as well as to encourage and build up the church in Rwanda through faithful Bible exposition and application. In order to accomplish this we study the Bible as a whole unit, focusing on key Bible books and the application of those books into Rwandan life. PTW is both training in God’s Word and discipleship. We are a family, where there is a strong emphasis on living life together and applying biblical truth into each others lives.
Open Doors is a ministry that serves persecuted Christians around the world in different ways: providing Bibles and literature, ministry training, literacy courses, practical aid, presence and encouragement.
